Winona Forever

Winona Forever is the name of my new favourite cafe. It's a pretty great name, although I don't quite get it. Hearing it conjures images of grungy teens of the 90's waving placards and wearing t-shirts with 'Winona Forever' scrawled all over them following Johnny Depp and Winona Ryder's infamous split. None of that here.

Winona's brilliance lies in her refreshing take on brunch. Like the 'Beans is beans', a smash of peas, edamame beans, avocado and goats cheese, laced with a lashings of smoky chilli oil and a sesame-rich dukkah. Or the beautiful 'Beet Street' a celebration of two great pink foods: salmon and beetroot. Though I loathe to say it, their dishes fall nothing short of Insta-worthy. 'The Eton Trifle' a french toast that is more dessert than breakfast with its adornment of piped meringue and whipped cream, looks like diabeetus on a plate, but way prettier.

Its intense popularity and relative newness means orders can take a while, but they'll warn you if that's the case. For something a little different, try their orange hot chocolate; you won't regret it.
